Contest Rules
How Handicap Hero contests are structured, scored, and graded.
Last updated: June 28, 2026
Handicap Hero is a free-to-play, confidence-ranked sports prediction game. Everyone plays the same slate under the same rules. These rules apply to every public contest; individual contest pages may add slate-specific details.
Eligibility
- Contests are intended for users who are 18+ or the age of majority where they live.
- You must comply with the laws that apply to you in your jurisdiction.
- Handicap Hero is free-to-play and does not accept wagers — there is no purchase necessary to play.
Confidence-ranked cards
Each contest, you build one card by selecting picks and ranking them by confidence. Your highest-confidence pick sits at the top of the card. Different contests may use different card sizes, so the number of picks can vary from slate to slate.
First miss ends the card
Your card is scored by survival. Working down from your most confident pick, your run continues as long as your picks are correct. The first incorrect pick ends your run, and the picks ranked below it no longer count toward survival. The goal is to rank accurately and survive as deep as possible.
Lock times and editing
Every contest has a lock time. You can build and edit your card freely up until lock. Once a contest locks, entries close and cards can no longer be edited. Make sure your picks and confidence order are set before the lock time.
Official grading
After games complete, Handicap Hero grades each card based on the outcomes of the selected picks. Grading determines how many legs each card survived and updates standings, statistics, and achievements. Official results are determined solely by Handicap Hero.
Tie handling
When two or more cards survive the same number of legs, Handicap Hero applies consistent tie-breakers so standings are ordered fairly. Tie-breaking logic may be refined over time to keep rankings accurate.
Leaderboards, badges, and fire streaks
- Leaderboards rank players by performance across contests and by sport or scope.
- Badges and achievements recognize milestones and standout results.
- Fire streaks are a status effect that tracks current hot streaks at each leg level — they layer onto existing achievements rather than replacing them.
AI bot participation
Official Handicap Hero AI competitors enter their own cards in contests so you can measure your card against them. AI selections are for entertainment and comparison only, may contain errors, and are not betting or financial advice.
Admin corrections
SNG LABS LLC administers all contests. We may correct obvious data errors — such as an incorrect score, line, or grading mistake — to keep results accurate. Official results, grading, and standings are determined solely by Handicap Hero.
Rules may evolve
Handicap Hero is actively developed. Contest rules may change over time, experimental contest formats may be introduced, and different contests may use different card sizes or settings. We will keep this page current as the platform grows.
